Detective Insaf Mohammad

Insaf Mohammad is a tall slightly grim faced man with dark circles blue eyes. His black hair is kept closely cropped and his skin maintains a slightly tanned hue of some Mediterranean heritage. He is somewhat withdrawn and quiet. He doesn't have pictures on his desk or in his locker. Even when the paper work begins to pile he is always very careful not to leave many traces of himself behind. Anyone who was in or near Detroit on or slightly after February 6th, 2009 might recognize his face. It made the news briefly as the idiot rookie who got his partner killed in a shoot out with some drug dealers. Anyone able to perceive ghosts might see that he is followed by the ghost of an older man in a shirt and tie whose missing half of his face and has a body riddled with bullet holes.

While Insaf was never the top of fashion, in recent history he has started to look not unlike an unmade bed. His suits are wrinkled, his beard seems to be in a semi-permanent 5 o'clock shadow, and his clip-on ties are always crocked. His desk looks like it would prohibitively messy but he never has problems finding anything on it. The dark circles under his eyes have gotten deeper, like he's always burning the candle at both ends.

While his case closing rate was good before, it has increased to the point where all but the most baffling cases clear his desk quickly and efficiently.

Insaf has started to come in nearly reeking of booze but never drunk. ("Drunk was 8 hours ago, now it is just hung over.") And though it didn't seem possible, he's even more disheveled.

Just as the rumors began to circulate the the higher ups had taken notice of Insaf alcohol problem and were considering measures to deal with it, Insaf suddenly seemed to snap out of his funk. One day he came in looking rumpled and unshaven. The next day he was clean shaven, pressed suit, and didn't reek of alcohol. He has been looking a little paler though.

Insaf case closing rate continues to climb, partly do to him "lucking out" when suspects run into unforeseen obstacles like flat tires, bad weather, or sticky doors. If asked Insaf usually replies, "If it's just dumb luck, I'm not going to complain."

He has also been seen down in the parks a lot playing chess against anyone willing.
