Most Cops spend at least some time after hours at Mac's Bar, near the police station.
Mac the Bartender (Joe MacNamara) Was a cop for 30 years. He came from a family of policemen. His father (a retired officer) owned Mac's bar and all three of his brothers were policemen. He retired and took over Mac's bar when his dad died, a year before the siege at Porter Street. All three of Mac's policemen brothers were killed in the siege. One wall of the bar is covered in pictures of the officers who died in the massacre.
Mac is gruff but kind. He regales the new police officers with stories about his old partners even when they don't ask. He is loyal to the rank and file officers, but he will toss you out on your ass if you start trouble in the bar.
