A strange flu virus is breaking out amongst the poorer areas of town. It seems highly contagious, and there have already been some rumored casualties.

Authorities are investigating, but the media is touting rumors about "avian flu."

The CDC is beginning to take interest, and temp clinics are beginning to spread amongst the city. Citizens are concerned about its spread, and several "immune booster/vaccine" initiatives have begun.

Rumors are that the BPD might be offering/mandating vaccines soon, to curb the spread of the virus while officers move in and out of infected areas.

Besides there being no coincidences in Biloxi: is there any reason to suspect this is more han just a bad flu.

It's spreading fast. And new cases crop up in places that were formerly "clean". It's like there were multiple patient zero's, unrelated in almost every way.

What are the symptoms being displayed by the afflicted? Would it be possible to get a dose of the vaccine/treatment without being forced to take it?

It's the "influenza". Harsh flu symptoms. Elderly and young children hardest hit. Same old, though its very virulent.

The vaccine is this year's standard flu vaccine with an update for the epidemic and an immune booster.

A case has been reported at Biloxi High School. Parents are beginning to panic even as the CDC reports that cases in more well to do areas of town are milder due to better nutrition and medical care. The CDC also urges those on immunosuppressents and with immunodefficiencies to stay isolated.

Captain Brenda Hayes has issued a atatement that the vaccine will be available to the BPD and that all personnel are highly encouraged to take it or be restricted to desk duty.

Please post or let me know if you are refusing.

I need info from players on their status with the vaccine. The med staff is on duty from 9 am to 3 pm every day. Night shift officers are expected to make appointments earlier.

Many officers have taken the vaccine already. Lillian will as its my plot and it (And the flu) will be hard pressed vs the plasm in her body already.

If you want to take it but use powers to suppress its effects that's fine. After this week I'll be poking people privately, and if you don't take the vaccine you cannot be on official duty outside the station.

What's the length of time an officer is put on desk duty for refusing to take the vaccine?

Just a reminder to get your decision to me pronto. Because this effects being able to play, Sunday is the cut off where we will oocly enforce the desk duty situation (Which prevents normal case interaction). Justification for being able to play until then (i.e., not on desk duty) is that the Police Union is questioning the policy, even though most cops support it, and that it takes time to administer vaccinations.

While technically this should restrict active duty, you have to maintain manpower and the like and we don't want to oocly punish people who haven't read this thread.

Please PM me with your decision ASAP.

In the next week and a half to two weeks, the epidemic begins to end. It just starts dieing out slowly, as good medical care and the vaccine start to wipe it out.
